You are so right Corey!!

Vivian had an attitude that would kill but she a smile that would light the world. I really miss seeing her on the stoop of 2121!

Life is too short. We never seem to realize it until we come across a picture of someone we lost!!

I feel the love amongst ourselves. It is a great feeling to know this is "OUR" place.

In life you tend to get lost within a moment. There are so many moments and one moment does not determine who you truly are!!!

We are all human. We make mistakes!! We live and We learn.

But I love each of you because we lived and learned together. Moments leave great memories!! WE share those together. happy and sad.

After carefully reading what a 21 jump member wrote, the blog is created to say what you want without anyone being offended. I read between the lines and have to say I agree with you. I must elaborate on your statement though!! Its about going to a safe place where you can sit back and be YOU. More importantly, enjoy yourself and have a good time. With that I apologize to everyone for my choice of entries on this blog (to fred but we understood each other from our phone convo)!
But at any rate, I once again apologize. I thank my fellow 21 jump sister for pointing this out!!

Love you all.

AH...i think we just shared another moment!!! No everybody go back and try to figure out who it is!!! LOL...

We should celebrate life today for we do not know what tomorrow will bring.

I could easily look back in the many months of this blog and point out a least five people we lost.

I would like to take a minute to say, “I love you all and have been bless to have all of you in my life one time or another”

R.I.P Vivien you are truly missed

When I was a little kid my older cousins use to hang out with Maude. They use to call me little Freddy back then. I used to live in 2111 Hughes Avenue and me and my crew used to play on that block between 181st and 182nd like it was the whole world. I didn't move to the house my family lives in now until later on. I was real young and I knew I could never hang with that crowd but I thought that they were so cool. I felt like I was going to be a kid for the rest of my life. And I thought that they were going to be the cool cats in the nieghborhood forever. As stupid as that sounds, it's the way I really felt. I had my friends and to us that crew was like our heroes. My cousin had a gang called the Black Spades and we tried to follow him by starting our gang called, what else, the Red Diamonds. We had a crime spree that included steeling powdered doughnuts, honey buns and 10 cent bags of chips from the store. We never got caught though, we were nice like that.

After a while I grew up and life was off the hook. I know yall all can remember how big you did it up yourselve when you found out you could cross the street. Yeah, I thought life was crazy when I went around the corner with my friends and eventually around the whole block on my bike. But when I crossed the street and went up the hill to Sergio's, going around the corner wasn't sh*t!

I can recall the first time I walked up that hill and went to Sergio's. I'm not just saying this but when I came out Vivian was sitting outside on 2121. I knew who she was from school or whatever but that was my first time on Belmont.

I remember Isac, Vera, Poochie, Warren, Julius and a whole bunch of people that you guys probably never knew. And I remember Maude from back then also. She was a sweet girl and always nice to me. I remember being a shorty and wishing she could be my girlfriend, I swear to god.

I saw her one day when I was a young man. I was happy to see her and I did not pretend it was otherwise. When I said hello to her she looked at me just like she did when I was a kid. I thought she was going to call me little Freddy. But she just called me Freddy and for 1 second I think I fealt time escaping.

The funny thing is that once I got to know you as a young woman Kindell and also Belinda, you guys reminded me of her. I use to tell Belinda that back in the days and she use to just smile. It's like I got to hang out with her through you. One night I was hanging out till the sun came up and Kindell was outside on the steps. She came up to my house and showed me how to make french toast. That is the first time I got a one on one introduction to your personality Dell. I wanted to invite you to come and hang out again but I was a bit of a hoe and I did not want anyone to get the wrong impression of us chillin. When I talk about you showing me how to cook that morning I am really talking about the first time you showed me who you are as a person.

I did not know that Maude was gone until I read this a little while ago. I like to make jokes about everything but I have pushed tears from my eyes more than once in the past hour since I found out cause that's a small, beauty filled piece of my childhood gone. She was just as sweet as you Kindell and you Kim and without question, Belinda. You ladies have my most sincere sorrows.

Very sorry to hear this.

i can remember Vivian vividly too! She always used to be smart to me and in turn, i'd mess with her right back. I used to call her STATIC, cause she was always startin some stuff - lol. I can't recall teh day, but I really thought she was just mean and cranky, but one day I was chilling outside on the corner, and she was sitting on the stoop in "Her Spot". She called me over and asked me what was up? I was buggin, casue she ain't never even been that nice. :O) Anyway, to make a long story short, we had a real conversation that day, and from then on, I had all the respect in the world for her. We were both nice to each other from that day on too. But when she did decide to mess with me, she always did it with a smile. I'd seen her and yell" STATIC" and she'd say " shut up boy"! LOL Thats my girl right there!

This blog is like going to a therapist and uncovering some long buried past. Grand Poo, you brought up a bunch of names and addresses from way back, especially Poochie and 2111 Hughes!!! I can say I we've known each other since then. My older sister (Wendy) sometimes hungout with Vivian (30 years ago) along with Dee Dee (also RIP) from my building 2119 Hughes.

What I remember about Vivian is that one day she helped me take care of some business. On a summer evening, when I was about 8-9 yrs old a couple of kids pulled out swiss blades and stuck me up in front, of Sergio's (a ten-cent juice and some change). I started mouthing to them, "if you didn't have those knives, blah, blah, blah" and there was a lot of back and forth. Anyway, Vivian was either going in or coming out of Sergio's a minute or two after this started and she pulled me aside and said "tell them to meet you and your boys". So I did and we agreed and meet the next day in the lot that was on 181st between Hughes and Belmont. They brought along a few friends and I brought along my boys (Richie, Homer, Joeseph, Tony (RIP), and Gerald, to name a few). I guarantee you that you have never seen one 8 year old whip another 8 year old the way I did that day.

Wow Freddy took it way back, he said Poochie and Vera...Reading everyones comments had me pratically in tears...memories are so special but that is when you realize just how much you miss your luv ones. Our own personal angels looking over us. Everytime Vivian was in one of her moods, I would make it my duty to bother her and bother her until she had no choice but to put a smile on her face : ) Kindell and Des both know how I play a lot...lol but it always worked and she would smile and tell me I get on her nerves...That meant my job was done. Kindell has that same Vivian attitude...I always tell her that...lol

Miss a day... you know the rest. I was in Virginia meeting with my son's teachers. I see I missed a tear-jerker. So I won't get that started back up. But what I will say is that me & my moms moved in 2121 with Irene & Rashea in about '73. Even though we moved out a few years later, after my open window flight, I continued to make my way to 2121 every day because that was always home to me. Vivian was one of those people that you had to respect. She gave you no choice! I looked at her as an aunt even though I had no idea how much older than me she was. She just had that presence and if she saw one of us little kids out of line she straightened us out.
Kindell, remember Kyle & Kevin that used to come up from the south every summer? I couldn't wait until they came up every year. Kyle was my dude! One time I took him to a jam at Mapes & when we were leaving 3 boys stuck us up for Kyle's Cazals. That was his last summer in New York.

Kindell, I know the people... and that sh#t you just said still confused me! Who's godmother is someboby else's grand.. i mean god... no, grandmoth... MAN FORGET IT. KYLE GOT STUCK UP WITH A KNIFE FOR HIS CAZALS. Real ones too. He wanted me to help him chase them kids down. I'm like, "Yo Kyle, let's think about this for a minute. They were right here, RIGHT HERE, and they put a knife to your stomach. What are we going to do when we catch them that we didn't do at first?" Needless to say, we didn't go.
Speaking of "egos almost gettin' a nigga killed", remember when we were at the PS 193 talent show one year and House knocked the kid out in the lobby? Then when we got outside some dudes pulled out guns on us? Yo, why when we all got back to the block, from the various directions in which we all ran, was Herb trying to talk us all into going back to look for the very same dudes we just ran from because they had guns - WITH NO GUNS OF OUR OWN?!?!? What were we going to do different this time? I can still see Herb like it was yesterday, standing in front of PS 57 schoolyard on Belmont yelling, "Man, I'm going back. Don't nobody pull no gun out on me! Shoooot! Who's coming with me?"
(cricket cricket)
Needless to say, no one went, including Herb.
Good times, ya'll.
